Mascots By aclockworkoranje on FanFiction"I can't believe you dragged me here."
Howard scowled at Vince affectionately cheering for one of the sports teams set in front of them, God knows which.
"Oh, c'mon Howard, football games are so fun!"
The smaller man said as he sat back in his seat.
Howard looked at him in disbelief.
"Vince, you don't even like football."
Vince's eyebrows furrowed and his mouth fell open.
"Howard, I LOVE football! I've known you practically my whole life, how didn't you know that? I was the best on my team when I was a little kid!"
Howard thought back, trying to remember.
He really had been involved with football, in fact, it was the only athletic thing Vince ever did.
In his room used to be posters of all his favourite players and teams right next to ripped out fashion magazine clippings.
Howard laughed, soemtimes he thought his friend was odder than he was.
A small shreek escaped from Vince's lips, ejecting the tape of Howard's memories playing in his head.
Vince grabbed Howard's shirt and attempted to hide from something.
Howard looked around, but saw nothing out of the ordinary.
"What, what is it?"
Vince pointed a shaky finger to a giant yellow lion dressed in a t-shirt with a sports logo.
"The l-l-l-lion."
Howard stared, confused.
"What's the big deal, it's just a man in costume."
Vince was still cowering next to him. He was hyperventilating with fear.
Oh. Oh.
Howard began to chuckle, which turned into a full-fledged laugh.
"You're afraid of mascots."
"It's not funny, Howard!"
"I believe it is, sir."
Vince glared at him.
"Don't tell anyone."
Howard grinned evilly.
"What if I do?"
"I've got more on you than you know. You'd flee to the oldest civilization in Africa and still they'd all know who you are because of me."
Howard gulped, thinking about all his embarrassing secrets.
"Okay, I won't tell."
Vince smiled.
"Thought so."
They, well, Vince enjoyed the rest of the game, once spilling Coca-Cola on Howard's crotch whilst jumping up suddenly.
As much as Howard tried not to laugh at Vince's little secret, though, the more he slipped out a chuckle.
Mascots. What a strange man you are, Vince Noir.
